Ninth Annual General Meeting

The ninth AGM of the Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain was held at 2.15 p.m. on Saturday 14 April 2007 in Room 405, Birkbeck College, Malet Street, London WC1. Thirty members attended (at the beginning of 2007, the Society had 359 members). The following decisions were taken.

The Officers were elected:

Stephen Barkway as Chair*
Ruth Webb as Vice-Chair*
Lynne Newland as Secretary*
Ian Griffiths as Hon. Treasurer*
Stuart N. Clarke as Membership Secretary*
Wendy Grierson as Activities Secretary*
Sarah M. Hall as Publicity Officer*
Julia Briggs and Sheila M. Wilkinson as Executive Council members, and Lynn Todd-Crawford as Executive Council US representative

The UK annual membership subscription is to become £16 (five years: £64), and overseas membership £21 (five years: £84) for the calendar year 2008. There will be no increase for student membership or life membership. The audited accounts for 2005 and 2006 were approved.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, Juliet Nicolson gave a talk, 'What Virginia Woolf Means to Me'.
